Ryan Gander (b. 1976, Chester, GB) studied at the Jan van Eyck Akademie in Maastricht and the Rijksacademie voor Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. In 2002 he gave his first solo exhibition at the International 3 Gallery in Manchester. In 2003 he won the Prix de Rome for sculpture and in 2005 was on the shortlist for the Becks-Futures Prize in London. In the same year he won the Baloise Art Statement Prize in Bazel. His work comprises subtle - partly fictional, partly factual - narrative structures from the archives of everyday life. Gander has had solo exhibitions at Galerie Annet Gelinck, Amsterdam (2006), Les Laboratoires des Aubervilles, Paris (2005), Artist Space, New York (2005), STORE, London (2005), Cornerhouse, Manchester (2005) and the Stedelijk Museum Bureau, Amsterdam (2003). He has recently taken part in group exhibitions at the Kunstmuseum Luzern (2006), Witte de With, Rotterdam (2006), Torino Trienale ICA, London (2005) and PS1, New York (2004).
