Adam O’Farrill is regarded as one of the most influential trumpeters of his generation - described by The New York Times as ‘among the leading trumpet players in jazz - and perhaps the music’s next major improviser.’ With VALLEYS, he presents a new trio in which he further deepens his musical language: a tension between abstraction and melody, between structure and improvisation.
Together with South Korean cellist Okkyung Lee and British drummer Tom Skinner, he explores the boundaries of their instruments. The result is an open soundscape in which intuition, experimentation, and expression take centre stage.
O’Farrill builds on earlier projects such as ELEPHANT and For These Streets, in which he reimagines musical forms and breaks conventions. In this ensemble, that quest takes on a new intensity.
Okkyung Lee is a key figure in experimental music. Tom Skinner is a driving force in the London jazz scene, co-founder of Sons of Kemet, and active in diverse projects, including The Smile with Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood.
