Enji

Enji, born in Ulaanbaatar, grew up immersed in traditional folk music and dance. Later, she delved into throat singing, an ancient vocal technique characteristic of Mongolian music, which is prominently featured on her breakthrough album Ulaan. As a trained vocalist, she sings melodic jazz in her native tongue, resulting in a distinctive and layered musical blend.

In 2025, Sonor, her third album, was released under the Squama label. Through vivid lyrics, Enji explores themes of identity and connection - thoughtful, searching, yet hopeful. Like her earlier albums Ursgal and Ulaan, Sonor navigates the crossroads of jazz and folk, refusing to be confined to a single genre.

At DE SINGEL, Enji presents her new work in a familiar trio arrangement, joined by River Adomeit on double bass and co-composer Paul Brändle on guitar.
